Privacy Policy

This is a translation. If there is any difference, the Spanish version prevails.
In short: you don’t need an account, we don’t ask for your name or email to play and we don’t sell data. Your stats stay in your browser. We measure site usage anonymously, without cookies.
Who is responsible
GeoCake (geocake.app) is a project by Tomás Piola, based in Argentina. For any questions about this policy or your data: contacto@geocake.app.
What is stored in your browser
So you can see your stats, streaks and today’s game, GeoCake stores them in your browser’s local storage (localStorage), under names starting with geocake:. It also stores the theme and language you chose, and a simple record of the days you played (used for streaks and for anonymous measurement).
- This data is not sent to any server: it stays on your device.
- It isn’t cookies and it can’t be used to identify you.
- If you delete it (in your browser: clear site data for geocake.app), you lose your stats and streaks.
- If you install GeoCake as an app, the browser also keeps a copy of the pages so you can play offline.
Anonymous measurement
To know which games are used and improve them, we use Umami, which works without cookies and doesn’t store your identity. We see aggregated data such as:
- pages visited, approximate country, device type and browser, and which site you came from;
- game events: finished game (game, mode, result and language), whether you came back the next day, whether you copied your result and whether you completed the Daily Challenge.
We never see who you are and we can’t follow you across sites. If you use an ad or tracker blocker, measurement doesn’t load and the site works the same.
Other services involved
- Hosting: the site is hosted by a third-party provider (currently Cloudflare), which logs technical data about each visit, such as your IP address, to operate and protect itself from attacks.
- Fonts: the site’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google and Google receives your IP address.
These services may process data outside Argentina, under their own policies.
If you write to us
If you send us an email, we use your address and your message only to reply. We don’t share them or use them to send you advertising.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data by writing to contacto@geocake.app. Since almost everything stays in your browser, clearing the site’s data is usually enough.
Under Argentine Law No. 25,326 (article 14, section 3), data subjects may exercise their right of access free of charge at intervals of no less than six months, unless a legitimate interest is shown. The Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP), as the supervisory authority under Law No. 25,326, handles complaints and claims from anyone whose rights are affected by non-compliance with personal data protection rules.
If you live in the European Union or another country with its own data protection law, you can also exercise the rights that law gives you (for example, objection or portability) by the same email.
Children
GeoCake is suitable for all ages. We don’t ask anyone for personal data, including minors.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll publish it here with a new update date.
